Covering Wisconsin is a program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension.
We help people understand and sign up for publicly available health insurance and other programs that support health.
We help anyone in Wisconsin secure health insurance coverage, seek timely care, and navigate the healthcare system with a focus on communities most at risk. Our expert Health Insurance Navigators are federally-licensed to provide free help year-around.
Navigators:
Compare plans and prices across coverage options
Submit applications for HealthCare.gov, BadgerCare Plus or Medicaid
Answer health insurance questions - big and small
Resolve billing or coverage problems
File eligibility appeals
and more!
During the 2025-26 Open Enrollment period, a total of 291, 336 Wisconsin residents signed up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace.
These record numbers were made possible through the wide and multi-faceted reach of Covering Wisconsin’s 2025 promotion, education, and enrollment efforts shown here.
